Bentley EXP 100 GT, the luxury vehicles of the future will also be autonomous and electric
To mark its centenary, Bentley has been working on the prototype of the future Grand Touring, the EXP 100 GT, a huge autonomous and electric concept

We knew that Bentley was working on the creation of a prototype to mark the brand’s centenary, a spectacular concept that they have finally presented. It is the Bentley EXP 100 GT, which gives us an idea of how the brand sees its Grand Touring of the future. In this spectacular prototype we find high-quality materials, a powerful electric powertrain and autonomous driving.
The Bentley EXP 100 GT is a huge concept that measures 5.8 metres long by 2.4 metres wide, made with materials such as aluminium and carbon fibre, as well as decorative elements in copper and aluminium that recall the BR1 Aero engine the brand built for the aircraft of World War I. Continuing with its spectacular dimensions, it has dihedral doors that measure two metres, but these extend to three metres in length when open.

The materials used in its creation are environmentally friendly, and so are the paints used for the bodywork, the main colour being called Compass, together with a special pigment that aims to reflect a spectrum of autumnal colours. It also features a backlit grille with round headlights superimposed on it, while at the rear the rear light cluster merges with a 3D OLED screen that produces lighting effects that can be combined with the lights.
As you can see, light and lighting effects are an important part of the Bentley EXP 100 GT, and the equally futuristic interior is no different. Its cabin handcrafted features a wide variety of materials such as wood, leather and glass, which combine with the incoming light to create a sense of well-being for the occupants. In fact, the glass roof can collect exterior light and transmit it via fibre optics to the vehicle’s various systems.

It also has elements and numerous sensors designed to improve the time occupants spend inside the cabin. To that end, there are, for example, biometric seats that adjust depending on whether the vehicle is being driven by the driver or autonomously, and which can measure the occupant’s temperature, blood pressure or position in the seat; along with other systems such as air purification or augmented reality displays for multimedia services, for example, all to achieve maximum comfort and well-being while we are inside.
Mechanically it has an electric propulsion system unlike anything used today, as it promises a battery with five times the density of a current one. This battery system will power four electric motors generating a torque of 1,500 Nm, which, combined with a weight of 1,900 kg, allows the Bentley EXP 100 GT to accelerate to 100 km/h in under 2.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 300 km/h. Its batteries allow a range of around 700 km, and can be charged when needed up to 80% in 15 minutes.
