Bentley Flying Spur Mulliner: introducing the most luxurious saloon in the world

Bentely could not have chosen a more glamorous setting to present its new Flying Spur Mulliner than Monterey Car Week. Here, the British marque has unveiled the third member of the Bentley Mulliner series, following the Bentley Continental GT Mulliner Coupé and the Convertible version.

The craftsmen of the Mulliner division at Bentley have pulled out all the stops to deliver what is probably the most luxurious saloon in the world, in addition to becoming the first Bentley with the Mulliner badge to feature an electrified propulsion system.

V6 hybrid, V8 and W12 engines

Indeed, in addition to the sophisticated and silky 6-litre W12 with twin turbochargers, and the powerful and more emotional 4-litre V8, also turbocharged, Bentley now adds a third, more “rational” engine option: a V6 hybrid that sits as the entry level to the range, and that allows the saloon to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.3 seconds, with a top speed of 285 km/h.

But for Bentley customers, power and performance, which are taken for granted, take a back seat to the level of personalisation and finish that only Bentley can achieve in its cars. The list ranges from the exclusive polished 22-inch wheels with a floating system that always keeps the Bentley “B” logo upright, even when on the move, to the most exclusive selection of materials to create a cabin in which the word luxury takes on a new dimension.

As always, illuminated exterior sill plates and thick floor mats welcome you into a cabin with three possible combinations to choose from, in which the artisanal finish can be seen in every detail. For example, the hand-stitched seats feature a diamond-pattern quilting created through an embroidery process that took 18 months to develop. In this way, each diamond contains 712 individual stitches, each one aligned exactly at the centre of the diamond it recreates.

A diamond finish is also used for the trim of the centre and rear consoles, in this case through a technical milling process. The centre of the dashboard includes a Mulliner clock in brushed silver, and behind the backrests of the front seats are the exclusive electrically operated Mulliner tables, veneered with an exclusive finish and featuring a self-levelling function.

As an additional touch, the key to each car is presented to customers in an exclusive Mulliner leather case matching the tri-colour configuration chosen for the car’s cabin.
