BMW introduces the iWallbox Pro, the new charging station for electric vehicles
Owners of electric and hybrid vehicles can charge their car batteries at the new charging station for these vehicles, the BMW i Wallbox Pro, which offers more features than its predecessor and will soon go on sale across Europe

The new BMW i Wallbox Pro is the evolution of the brand’s charging station for charging the batteries of electric and hybrid cars at home. It replaces its predecessor, the iWallbox Pure, and becomes an original BMW i accessory, with the option of free installation in the customer’s garage or garden.
The charging rate of the new station is above 7.4 kW and allows vehicles connected to it to achieve fast charging. For example, the high-voltage battery of the BMW i3 can reach 80% of its capacity in less than three hours. Compatibility is also important, as it allows use by vehicles that use the standard European Type 2 connector.
The iWallbox Pro has been manufactured using environmentally friendly materials, in line with the company’s philosophy in this regard. Its design maintains the essence of the BMW i line, with a front section made of plastic and an anthracite-effect finish with black and chrome details, together with BMW i blue.
Charging is controlled through a monitor with a 7-inch touchscreen, which allows each user to set their own personalised settings. In addition, it can register up to three different users, saving their preferences and applying them automatically when necessary.

The charging status can be monitored through the LED lights built into the station or via the smartphone app. In addition, each user’s electricity consumption can be sent by email to keep better track of usage.
The station can also select the use of energy from solar panels, if installed, or from the electricity grid. It can be configured to prioritise the former and, if no energy is available from them, to draw from the general grid.
The system regulates charging current when household consumption increases, preventing unwanted overloads. It will begin to be installed in European markets and within a few months will also be available in the rest of the world.
