Car manufacturers seek to win over their customers in every possible way, wherever they come from. To achieve this goal, brands often turn to producing special editions of their most extreme vehicles. This is the case with BMW, one of the German firms with the most sports models in its range. However, the star vehicle is the M3 and M4, which receive a special edition, the downside being that it will only be available in Japan.

The German firm is looking to considerably increase its sales in every market around the world, and has kept the Asian continent in mind in order to offer them a very special vehicle. Specifically, BMW has created what it calls the Heat Edition, a limited run of 30 units — exclusive to Japan — of the M3 and M4. This means there will be 15 units of the coupé version and another 15 of the saloon.

The sporty version of the 3 Series and 4 Series is positioned as one of the best-selling models in its segment. Even so, the German company wanted to pay tribute to them by creating this special edition. The main differences compared with a standard M3 and M4 are aesthetic and interior. There are several elements signed by M Performance that appear in the Heat Edition.

This is reflected in the front bumper, whose air intakes are trimmed in carbon fibre, along with the spoiler and rear diffuser. This gives the M3 and M4 a much sportier and more aggressive look. It also features a special blue colour exclusive to this variant. The interior has also been affected in this special edition and includes various carbon fibre and Alcantara elements, such as the steering wheel.

As far as the mechanics are concerned, the Competition Package is incorporated, giving the German sports car greater performance. Its engine remains the same twin-turbo inline six-cylinder found in the standard M3 and M4. However, thanks to this package, power rises from 431 CV to 450 CV. These figures propel the M3 Heat Edition to 100 km/h in just 4.3 seconds.

Without a doubt, this special edition of the M3 and M4 will make very happy those 30 lucky customers who live in Japan. At the same time, the outlay required to obtain this very special sports car is not low, since it starts at 13,610,000 yen for the M3 — roughly 100,577.90 euros at current exchange rates — and at 13,850,000 yen for the M4, the equivalent of 102,351.50 euros.
