BMW R 18 Custom 'Spirit of Passion', a unique motorcycle that will surprise you

Just as with cars, motorcycles are also the playground of custom builders. When we think of custom motorcycles, we know that many people enjoy giving them a personalised, unique image. But some go a step further and show us another side and a more elaborate style. Custom builder Dirk Oehlerking has worked on a BMW R 18 and transformed it spectacularly.

Oehlerking’s workshop Kingston Custom is well known for its extreme transformations, and this is one of them. The BMW R 18 has become a completely different motorcycle, yet it has unalterably kept its style and essence. He has named it Spirit of Passion, and passion is certainly something it is going to stir.

During the transformation of the BMW R 18 the artist left the chassis intact, as he considers it perfect just as it is. But beyond that, the original appearance of the model ends there. The bodywork has changed completely, and the designer has worked in a handcrafted way to shape the motorcycle we can see.

The exhaust has been modified in the Kingston Roadster style, and the saddle has been replaced with a part from the universal accessories catalogue. The indicators have been replaced with Kellermann lights, and the LED headlight has been integrated into the fairing, which has been painted in the same original colour as the rest of the vehicle. Everything has been done so that the motorcycle wears a design reminiscent of Art Deco.

What is most impressive is the front of the motorcycle, which, as it could not be otherwise, is dressed with the characteristic grille that has made the brand so popular in cars (and which has not been free of controversy in recent months). The design of the wheel suspensions and the fuel tank has also been changed and adapted, so the overall look is simply striking.
