BMW takes Saab Automobile Parts to court
Saab Automobile Parts has been sued by BMW over a breached agreement to supply the German brand’s engines to the former Saab, for the 9-3 models.

After a few months off, Saab is back at it, since it was announced that the brand would become part of National Electric Vehicle Sweden. Now it is once again in the courts, with a new lawsuit against the Swedes to be filed, this time brought by BMW.
The German brand had reached an agreement with Saab for the supply of four-cylinder engines and their spare parts for the last batch of 9-3s, but it has never seen a penny from that deal. The new lawsuit Saab will have to face is aimed at Saab Automobile Parts, one of the arms of the former brand that still operates independently.
The shipments were made by BMW, but Saab was in no position even to buy paper for its printers, so the orders were never paid. Over the past year, BMW kept trying in vain to collect the money it was owed for the engines, despite Saab’s bankruptcy.
The lawsuit, filed in the Swedish district of Nykoping, seeks €2.6 million. Some legal experts have argued that Saab Automobile Parts has no part in the agreement between Saab and BMW and should not be sued. However, it is clear that BMW is determined to recover every last cent and will take whoever it has to before the judge.
