BMW x SipaBoards: the Bavarian brand wants you to enjoy new experiences with its electric models

Today, BMW’s transition to electric mobility can be described as a success, if you need only look at the company’s quarterly results. At the Bavarian brand’s management, however, they believe that committing to electric mobility goes beyond offering sustainable vehicles, and their intention is to offer new experiences to their customers.

Following this philosophy, the company has just announced a rather unusual and completely unexpected launch, an electric paddle surfboard under the name BMW x SipaBoards.

In collaboration with the Slovenian company SipaBoards, a market leader in this sector, BMW is thus venturing for the first time into the marketing of electric products designed to move across water, which can also be the perfect complement for all those who want to enjoy their free time while travelling in the brand’s electric vehicles.

Price and main features

The BMW x SipaBoards has a starting price of 3,990 euros and integrates an electric motor capable of delivering up to 300 W, with which it can be inflated fully automatically, thus eliminating the need for manual pumps. Equipped with a custom propeller and swappable batteries, with a capacity of 90 Wh – with optional 180 Wh modules available from next spring – this board makes it possible to enjoy water activities like never before, reaching speeds of up to 7.5 km/h – 4 knots, with a range of between one and three and a half hours of use.

Weighing 14.9 kg, including the motor, the board measures 3.65 m long, 0.82 m wide and 0.15 m thick, and is designed to support up to two people. Its design reflects the aesthetics of the models from the Neue Klasse range by BMW, with elegant lines and distinctive brand details. It also includes practical features such as an automatic shut-off system if the paddle falls into the water, as well as a mounting system for various accessories, such as cameras, speakers, bags or portable coolers, thus offering a fully customisable experience.

BMW Group Designworks was in charge of its design, ensuring that the board is not only functional, but also evokes the essence of the Bavarian brand. Meanwhile, SipaBoards has contributed all its experience in developing this type of component for enjoying water activities.

With this board, BMW takes a completely unexpected step forward, bringing its philosophy of the “joy of driving” to a new level. Now betting on the enjoyment of additional activities during journeys made in its electric vehicles.
