BMW X5 xDrive 45e iPerformance, the Premium plug-in hybrid SUV arriving in 2019
BMW has launched a new version of the BMW X5 with a plug-in hybrid powertrain that complements the range and delivers all the power of this SUV with almost no emissions

We already have the first images and details of the BMW X5 xDrive 45e iPerformance, the version of the German SUV that uses a plug-in hybrid powertrain, one of the variants that will form part of the model’s range and that will reach international markets early next year. This version of the BMW X5 features a six-cylinder, 3.0-litre petrol engine, which is joined by an electric motor delivering 82 kW. Together, they send 395 CV to the wheels, along with a maximum torque of 600 Nm.
Considerable power, yet fuel consumption is only 2.1 litres of petrol per 100 kilometres, thanks to the electric motor, which considerably reduces consumption. As for CO2 emissions, according to the manufacturer these stand at just 50 g/km. Very appealing figures, especially at a time when this kind of data is being measured in an extremely rigorous way.

As for the performance of the plug-in hybrid version of the BMW X5, it offers an acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.6 seconds, making it a second quicker than the previous version of this model. Also according to the BMW itself, the maximum speed of the hybrid model is set at 235 km/h, which also surpasses the previous version.

As for range in fully electric mode, the BMW X5 xDrive 45e iPerformance is expected to be able to cover around 80 kilometres, provided it is driven at a maximum speed of 135 km/h. Both motors send power to all four wheels via the xDrive system and an eight-speed Steptronic automatic gearbox.
The BMW X5 xDrive 45e iPerformance comes with air suspension and electronically controlled dampers. As an option, buyers can choose an upgraded suspension with integral active steering. This system allows the rear wheels to turn by a few degrees as well, giving the car greater stability at both low and high speeds.

The position of the battery allows the boot to offer a capacity of 500 litres, although with the rear seats folded down, this can grow to 1,716 litres. The interior lives up to what is expected of a Premium SUV and includes all the driver-assistance systems one would expect in a car of this type.
