BMW's plans to electrify its models: hybrids across the entire range
The next decade looks set to bring dealerships from most brands their most powerful and capable hybrid and electric cars, and many of them are preparing to put their models ahead of the curve, with an electric version across their whole range.

The next decade will arrive loaded with automotive news, which will put us on the path to vehicle electrification and mark a before and after for the industry. Or at least that is what we are being led to believe. Either way, more and more brands are signing up to this trend and preparing very complete line-ups with highly interesting proposals.
One of these brands that has prepared its move into electric vehicles is BMW, which, before launching its next 100% electric car, will have several versions of some of its current models ready. That model arriving during the next decade will be the i5, following models that brands such as Audi and Mercedes-Benz will launch. Before the arrival of the model, BMW will roll out various hybrid versions across the brand’s ranges.

Right now there are already versions of the 3 Series, the 7 Series and the X5, and soon the hybrid version of the 530e will be ready, a hybrid model that we saw very recently. In addition, when the next X3 SUV arrives, a hybrid version is expected to be included to complement the model and bring more users to the brand.
Once the brand completes the launch of its hybrid versions, it will focus on the iNext project and the development of electric drivetrains for the current ranges. The i5 will be the first to arrive, and its battery will have a capacity of 110 kWh, representing a range of around 550 kilometres at first and an improved range of 750 kilometres that will arrive later.
After the BMW i5, it is speculated that versions of the 3 Series, 6 Series and 7 Series will follow, all with batteries that allow them to run on a range that can exceed 500 kilometres. And once the whole range is complemented with these electric variants, the turn will come for the X3, which will also have a version powered 100% by electricity.
