Bugatti has unveiled this special edition, called Bugatti Mistral, which will consist of only 99 units and will offer an open-top variant of the Chiron.

It has been a long time since Bugatti has shown an open-top hypercar, but the wait is finally over. In 2014 the sale of the Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse came to an end, and the Chiron has not had a variant of this kind, so the arrival of the Bugatti Mistral is a real event.

That said, if you are one of those who want to enjoy this type of vehicle, you should know that you do not have much time to get one. Of this very special hypercar only 99 units will be built. The model takes its name from a wind, so it may give a hint of what it has in store for the lucky owners who will be able to drive it.

Platform shared with the Chiron

The Bugatti Mistral shares its platform with the Chiron, but its exterior design has been carefully reworked. The aim was to make it a different model that appeals to buyers. At the front you can see the horseshoe-shaped grille that defines the Chiron, alongside two large side air intakes. The carbon-fibre splitter sits at the bottom of the bumper, completing a powerful and striking look.

The headlights come in four superimposed lines and create a unique light signature. Next to them you can see two air intakes on the bonnet. The rear screen is steeply raked and the A-pillars are very slim. The roof is roadster-style, allowing open-air driving, and it stows away to offer a different driving experience.

At the rear there are two humps behind the seats, joined together by a spoiler. The rear design takes its reference from the Super Sport 300+. The LED lights give a very distinctive look, together with the carbon-fibre diffuser and centrally positioned exhaust outlets.

Inside you will find the cabin of the Bugatti Chiron, with all of its features. The experience will therefore be very similar to that of the Chiron, but in open-top form.

Powertrain

The engine powering this open-top hypercar is the same unit used in the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+. That is, an 8.0-litre W16 engine. This powerplant produces 1,600 CV, and peak torque matches that figure at 1,600 Nm.

There is no data on acceleration times or top speed, but these figures already guarantee that it is a very capable vehicle. The 99 units that make up this special edition will begin to be delivered to their buyers in early 2024. For one of them, however, buyers will have to pay close to five million euros.
