Atto 3 BYD Dolphin Electric Cars
BYD updates the Atto 3 and Dolphin on the Chinese market
With this update to both models and the adjustment of their retail prices, the Chinese manufacturer is counting on keeping both models competitive in an increasingly crowded market.
BYD has just unveiled an update to the Atto 3 in China, keeping its main technical specifications unchanged but offering a more competitive price and improved equipment. In addition, the Dolphin has also received some improvements.
As far as the Atto 3 is concerned, the propulsion technology remains the same, and it is not easy to spot the differences between this 2025 edition and the 2024 version at first glance. The front design retains key elements such as the headlights, but the designers at BYD have made some changes to the lower section of the bumper, near the air intake. On the sides, the D-pillar now features a dark trim. At the rear, a spoiler has been added that integrates a brake light divided into two sections. The text “Build Your Dreams” on the tailgate has also been replaced by the brand’s initials BYD.

As might be expected, the dimensions of the Atto 3, known as the Yuan Plus in some markets, have not changed. It keeps the same 4.46 metres in length, 1.88 metres in width and 1.62 metres in height, with a wheelbase of 2.72 metres. Its electric motor, meanwhile, continues to deliver the same 150 kW of power. The model is also still offered with a choice of two LFP battery packs made by BYD, with 49.9 and 60.5 kWh of capacity.
The improvements, although also limited, are somewhat more noticeable inside the vehicle. The bulky gear selector on the centre console has been replaced by a tray, and gears are now selected using a small lever on the steering wheel. In addition, the Chinese manufacturer now offers two new interior colours: grey and beige.
The new driver assistance technology from BYD arrives on the Atto 3
The most notable highlight of this Atto 3 refresh is the introduction of the brand’s new driver assistance system, called God’s Eye – the Eye of God. This technology, which BYD plans to integrate across its entire range, including entry-level models, will be available in several versions. The most basic versions will use only cameras and radar, offering more limited driver assistance, while the more advanced versions on higher-end models will have the added support of LiDAR sensors.
All these changes and improvements to the Atto 3 have also been accompanied by a reduction of 1,000 yuan in the price of this model on the Chinese market, which now starts at 115,800 yuan. At the current exchange rate, that works out to roughly 14,700 euros.

The new 2025 Dolphin is also better
Finally, the Dolphin has also received some changes for its 2025 edition, though fairly modest ones. As with the Atto 3, the initials BYD have replaced the slogan “Build Your Dreams” on the tailgate, where the headlights have also been slightly redesigned. The Chinese manufacturer is also offering for this model a new 130 kW powertrain, which joins the 70 kW and 150 kW versions already available.
Inside the new Dolphin, the gear selector on the centre console has also been replaced by a tray, with gear selection now handled by a lever on the steering wheel. Furthermore, just like the Atto 3, the Dolphin now integrates the brand’s God’s Eye driver assistant, which in this case uses a three-camera system.

The base price of the Dolphin on the Chinese market remains unchanged, however. Except for the top-of-the-range version, which now costs 4,000 yuan less – around 500 euros less.
