That SUVs are in fashion is nothing new. It doesn’t matter what age that future buyer is, because regardless of that, most people are thinking about buying one, and I’m not saying it, Ford state that 1 in 4 millennials has in mind acquiring a vehicle of these characteristics. Therefore, if you are a car manufacturer and you don’t have one of these in your catalogue, you are likely to be losing numerous sales and revenue.

Faced with the avalanche of this type of model that is coming our way, and part that we already have, compact SUVs that allow agile movement around the city have, and will have, an important place. That is where Citroën wants to enter fully, and with this newly presented C-Aircross Concept they show us their vision of their future compact SUV, as you can see, with a strong identity that never makes us doubt which brand it belongs to.

Its exterior design could be described as a blend of the new Citroën C3 with a redesign of the Aircross Concept, an SUV prototype shown to us in 2015 at the Shanghai Motor Show. Its front with two-level lights is high, giving the impression that we are facing a larger SUV, but the profile view, where its short bonnet and its dimensions reveal that it is a compact SUV.

But perhaps what catches my attention most is the rear, the 3D rear light cluster with a design formed by three floating luminous rings, which are truly spectacular and give a greater sense of depth to the body. Another signature feature of the C-Aircross Concept is the floating rear “guards,” backlit in Fluor Coral, creating a strong contrast with the blue colour that predominates on the bodywork.

Its interior welcomes us once its doors open with counter-hinged opening, a spacious, functional and minimalist cabin, in which the aerial dashboard with horizontal lines and the suspended seats stand out. The elimination of the instrument dials as we know them also stands out, leaving the spotlight to a Head-Up Display and a 12-inch touchscreen, which shows all the necessary information about the car and the entertainment system.

The C-Aircross Concept has been designed for travelling and not only for moving around the city, thanks to seats that adapt to the body’s posture, the numerous spaces it has for storing objects as well as its boot, and the use of the latest infotainment systems, highlighting the Share With U function, with which, thanks to the vehicle’s Wi-Fi, we can share any file with the other occupants (music, games, videos…).

And let’s not be fooled by its futuristic and technological interior design, because the C-Aircross Concept has also been designed to be used on terrain off the tarmac. That is why it features protection on the lower areas of the vehicle, including on the sides of the doors and wheel arches, 18-inch wheels that accentuate its off-road character, and the Grip-Control system, with which it can tackle any type of terrain.

We don’t yet know what the SUV that Citroën has in mind for production will finally look like, but if it resembles this one a little, it is likely to be a guaranteed success. For now, let’s enjoy the C-Aircross Concept, which will be presented worldwide at the Geneva Motor Show.
