Cadillac begins European sales of the Optiq electric SUV

With the Optiq, Cadillac aims to consolidate its presence in Europe, offering an electric SUV that combines advanced technology, elegant design and sustainability, tailored to the demands of European drivers.

The Cadillac Optiq is finally arriving in Europe. The American manufacturer has just announced that it is now accepting orders for this luxury electric SUV in Germany, France, Sweden and Switzerland, with a base price starting at 65,000 euros in the German market. First deliveries are expected to take place next February.

In Europe, the Optiq is available in two versions: Premium Luxury and Premium Sport, both equipped with a 75 kWh battery pack and all-wheel drive with dual electric motors which together deliver a maximum output of 224 kW and 480 Nm of torque. This Cadillac electric SUV is thus capable of reaching 100 km/h from a standstill in 6.3 seconds, with its top speed limited to 184 km/h.

As for range, the American manufacturer claims that the Optiq can travel up to 425 km on a single charge under the WLTP homologation cycle, and when connected to a DC fast-charging point it can increase its state of charge from 10 to 80 percent in approximately 36 minutes.

It lacks for nothing

Among the technologies it integrates to make driving this vehicle more enjoyable, the Regen On Demand system stands out, allowing braking via a pressure-sensitive paddle on the steering wheel, along with the One-Pedal Driving function, which recovers kinetic energy in most driving conditions to extend range. It also offers four driving modes – Tour, Sport, Snow/Ice and My Mode – to better tailor the vehicle’s response to road conditions.

In terms of design, the Optiq combines elegance and functionality, with a coupé-style silhouette, a fixed glass panoramic roof, a black glass grille with laser-etched patterns and rear side windows with acoustic laminated glass. Cadillac has also optimised the size of the wheels and the aerodynamic elements to maximise efficiency, without sacrificing the premium image that everyone expects from a Cadillac.

Inside the cabin, the Optiq embraces sustainability and luxury with materials such as PaperWood trim, made from tulipwood and recycled newspaper, and Tide fabrics manufactured from recycled polyester. Notably, it also features an impressive 33-inch curved LED display with 9K resolution, considered the largest in its segment.

“The Optiq is one of the most exciting projects we have embarked on. Our team has tuned the tyres, suspension and Brembo brakes specifically for European roads, achieving a perfect balance between precision, luxury and sustainability.”

Presented last May, Cadillac confirmed the future availability of the Optiq in the European market some time ago. Finally, as a point of interest, unlike the American version, which has an 85 kWh battery pack, the European variant’s is 75 kWh.
