Castagna Milano Tender2: the most exclusive 500e convertible

The iconic Italian coachbuilder has just unveiled its latest creation on the small 500e, giving it a very unusual yet luxurious look

With a history that goes back no less than 174 years, Italian coachbuilder Castagna Milano continues to this day with its peculiar and varied creations on models such as the Porsche Panamera, the Range Rover Evoque, the Peugeot 308 and the Citroën Ami. Its latest creation, however, has been carried out on one of the most iconic Italian models of today, the Fiat 500e, our protagonist for today.

Under the name Castagna Milano Tender2, the tuner’s Fiat 500e sports a look quite similar to its earlier versions presented years ago, although on the modern base of the electric version of the Italian city car, which features renewed front light units, rear LED taillights, new bumpers and cleaner lines throughout.

With its bodywork cut away at the side to eliminate its roof, doors and tailgate, the Castagna Milano Tender2 takes on a look more befitting a Riva boat than a car, with its interior fully covered in teak wood varnished in a dark finish, several storage compartments in the rear like those you would find on a boat, and only 2 seats, making it a thoroughly impractical vehicle.

Pure whim

The approach of the Castagna Milano Tender2 is far from practicality, focusing instead simply on design, exclusivity, luxury and the enjoyment of the experience.

Continuing with the elements this Tender2 adds, its original BMW seats stand out too, upholstered in elegant leather and houndstooth-pattern fabric, the steering wheel also upholstered in leather with cream-coloured stitching, the dashboard and trim matching the seats’ design, and finally the chrome arches behind the seat headrests as the icing on the cake.

Moving on to the mechanical side, the Tender2 retains the same propulsion system as a conventional Fiat 500e, consisting of an electric motor producing 118 CV on the rear axle, paired with a 42 kWh battery with which it is homologated for a maximum range of 321 kilometres under the WLTP cycle.
