DS 9 E-TENSE 360 4X4: electrified, more powerful and with all-wheel drive

DS’s flagship has just added this new version with plug-in hybrid powertrain, 360 hp with all-wheel drive and exclusive design elements

DS9 E-TENSE 360 4X4

Presented in February 2020, the DS 9 was launched as an elegant premium saloon, arriving to put pressure on tough rivals such as its group sibling the Peugeot 508, the German Mercedes Class E, BMW 5 Series or Audi A6, as well as the Volvo S90, among many others.

With a truly attractive look, the DS 9 promised a state-of-the-art technology package, great comfort and a classic, refined style. All of this came with a varied and efficient powertrain range, ideal for adapting to each customer’s different needs. And indeed, as you can read in our road test of this elegant saloon, its smoothness, ride comfort, build quality and handling won us over.

Now, DS has just added to the range of its top-of-the-line flagship saloon the new DS 9 E-TENSE 360 4X4. A model that produces 360 hp, as its name indicates, and an all-wheel drive system combining two motors (one for each axle) of 110 and 113 hp respectively, which, combined with a 200 hp PureTech petrol engine, offer great versatility, efficiency and an extra touch of sportiness.

An extra touch of sportiness

This new version brings no major design changes compared with the other versions of this saloon. Its 20-inch Munich wheels wrapping black brake calipers bearing the DS Performance signature (the competition division of DS Automobiles) enhance the sporty character of this version with a spicy touch.

The same goes for the interior, where comfort and attention to detail take centre stage, with settings that can be configured to offer the greatest possible comfort and ergonomics, a dashboard trimmed in Nappa leather, seats with Bracelet upholstery and touches of glass and Alcantara throughout the cabin.

Generous equipment

Another major strength of the new DS 9 E-TENSE 360 4X4 is its extensive list of technological equipment, including systems such as the DS Connected Pilot, the DS Park Pilot, the DS Active Scan Suspension active suspension system, or the advanced DS Active LED Vision lighting system, which adapts its width and reach to the road.

Under the bonnet we find the 1.6-litre four-cylinder PureTech petrol engine combined with the two electric motors we have already mentioned. Together, the new DS9 E-TENSE 360 4X4 produces a total power output of 360 hp and 520 Nm of maximum torque. Furthermore, thanks to its plug-in hybrid technology, it can cover up to 48 kilometres in fully electric mode.

And the price?

The starting price of this top-of-the-range version of the saloon is €67,150, a high price, though quite attractive given the class of product we are talking about. A vehicle that will be available throughout 2022, ready to give its all.
