Ferrari 458 Speciale: Successor to the Scuderia

Ferrari surprised the motoring world just minutes ago with the sudden unveiling of the most powerful and fastest version of the 458 to date, its 8-cylinder sports car, which has been named 458 Speciale
This is the variant most focused on the track, featuring numerous upgrades designed to make the 458 one of the best race cars on the automotive market.
We are looking at a truly exciting proposition: the Italian brand’s engineers have reworked the 4.5-litre, 8-cylinder V engine so that it now delivers 605 CV and 540 Nm of torque. This substantial increase in power is due to the use of new materials, reduced internal friction and the addition of redesigned components.
Thanks to these figures, the 458 Speciale can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3 seconds exactly, and from 0 to 200 km/h in 9.1 seconds. In fact, the 458 Speciale has managed a lap of the Fiorano circuit in 1 minute and 23.5 seconds, which is 1.5 seconds faster than the standard 458 Italia.

All these figures come with a reduction in the car’s weight, which now stands at an impressive 1,290 kg, made possible by the extensive use of elements such as carbon fibre, aluminium and magnesium. In addition, “superfluous” items such as the floor carpeting have been removed, so the bare metal is now exposed.
The 458 Speciale also features new driver assistance systems, such as the Side Slip Angle Control (SSC), which is essentially a stability control system for drifting situations. It analyses the vehicle’s lateral trajectory, compares it with the intended path, and adapts the car’s movement to the driver’s inputs.
Furthermore, the Ferrari 458 Speciale comes as standard with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres, specially designed for this model.
