Ferrari says no to SUVs and yes to MPVs: the brand's first estate will arrive in 2018
Ferrari has just confirmed the arrival of new models over the coming year. Among them is the GTC7Volume, the brand’s future MPV.

The car world is getting heavily involved in the SUV segment, which has been joined by luxury brands such as Lamborghini, Bentley or Maserati. Many car enthusiasts fear that this trend will spread to every brand, while others see it as progress and evolution. However, some manufacturers still show a strong personality and have decided to resist the temptation of SUVs and focus on a segment that is disappearing: MPVs.
In this situation is Ferrari, which has just stated in a press release that it intends to considerably expand its range of vehicles. The Italian brand wants to add up to three new models between 2018 and 2019, aiming to cover different segments and adapt to the needs of future customers. For now, Sergio Marchionne has issued a statement confirming the rumour of a future MPV from the brand.
We know little about this future and rather unusual model from the cavallino rampante marque, but the president of Ferrari has confirmed a series of technical details about this model. It will share its platform with the GTC4Lusso and, at the same time, its mechanicals. Inside we will find the powerful naturally aspirated V12 that powers other models in the range, and it will produce approximately 700 CV.

On the other hand, for less radical customers, there will be the option of fitting a twin-turbo V8 as the heart of the new MPV. This vehicle will probably be known as the GTC7Volume, referring to its large cargo space and the seven seats that this “supersports” MPV will feature. Technology will also be present throughout the future Italian model. It has been confirmed that the GTC7 will do away with the traditional rev counter in favour of a fully digital instrument cluster.
But that is not all: the Ferrari MPV will be especially focused on comfort and luxury, particularly for the younger occupants. That is why the GTC7 will feature two retractable screens that drop from the roof, to entertain passengers in the second and third rows. The brand has also confirmed a novelty never before seen in the marque, as the manettino will incorporate a new driving mode, called Sognare, which in Italian means dream.

This setting of the manettino is designed for long journeys, during which the youngest passengers manage to fall asleep. When this mode is selected, the engine keeps revs locked up to 5,000 rpm, so that the thunderous sound of the V12 does not resonate through the cabin. Another novelty is that the exhausts will close to such an extent that the GTC7 will sound like a genuine electric vehicle.
Without a doubt, Ferrari has surprised everyone with this news, but it is logical when the aim is to cover every type of segment. For now we have no images of the future GTC7Volume, but the brand has promised a teaser very soon. At the same time, Highmotor wishes you all a happy Day of the Holy Innocents and a happy New Year.
Happy Day of the Innocents!
