Ferrari Vision Gran Turismo: this is the Ferrari you could have in your garage
The Ferrari Vision Gran Turismo is the first vehicle designed by the Maranello brand for the world of virtual competition, and you could also have one in your garage if you play the Gran Turismo simulator on PlayStation.

Ferrari presents its first prototype designed specifically for the successful Gran Turismo video game series, a single-seater with covered wheels that closes the celebrations of the 75th anniversary of the Ferrari 125 S, the brand’s first competition car. But this is not just a video game car.
Indeed, with the Ferrari Vision Gran Turismo, the brand not only makes it clear that it also wants to be present in that virtual universe where future generations of passionate drivers of the brand now move. In addition, this prototype redefines the design language of the models that will leave the Maranello factory.
A virtual prototype… with a 1,030 CV V6 engine and three electric motors
Designed at the Ferrari Stile Centre, Flavio Manzoni drew inspiration from the brand’s sports cars that achieved success after success in endurance races such as the 24 Hours of Le Mans or the 24 Hours of Daytona in the 1960s and 1970s. We are talking about the Ferrari 330 P3 and 512 S, although one needs a great deal of imagination to find the reminiscences. What is beyond doubt is the spectacular result: a fully bodied Formula 1 car in which Ferrari presents innovative aerodynamic solutions that it has already rushed to patent.

And since in a virtual model the engine can be whatever you decide, Ferrari has opted for the 3-litre twin-turbo V6 fitted to the 296 GTB, the 296 GTS, the 296 GT3 and the new 499P. Furthermore, they have not held back at all in unleashing its power. In this hybrid configuration, with three electric motors (one on the front axle and two on the rear), the Vision Gran Turismo boasts on its spec sheet an impressive 1,030 CV at 9,000 rpm from the combustion engine, plus an additional 326 CV provided by the electric motors. Supposedly, the virtual model accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 2 seconds, reaches a top speed of 350 km/h… and could complete a lap of the Fiorano circuit in 1 minute and 10 seconds!

From 23 December 2022, when the Ferrari Vision Gran Turismo will be available to all users of Gran Turismo 7, we will be able to check whether Maranello’s latest creation is as good in the virtual world as its real cars are. The sound, at least, is promising: Ferrari has collaborated with Gran Turismo so that the engine sound of its prototype offers virtual drivers the most realistic experience possible.
