Fiat celebrates the arrival of autumn with the new 500 Collezione

Backed by its sales, the Fiat 500 announces a new Collezione special edition, created to evoke the colours of autumn and as a nod to the world of fashion

Perhaps it is Italian design, or perhaps its capacity for personalisation backed by a wide variety of special editions, such as the one we are looking at today, but what is certain is that the Fiat 500 has ceased to be Italian heritage and has become a global vehicle, selling 8 out of every 10 units outside Italy. With this statistic, the Fiat 500 has broken its own sales record in Europe with 142,000 units sold, making 2018 so far the most successful year since its creation.

Taking advantage of this good news for the leader of the A-segment, Fiat returns with a new special edition of the 500 to keep building on that success in the sales charts, once again named Collezione. And I say once again because you may recall this name from another special edition presented at the Geneva Motor Show, with several elegant changes to its design and the addition of more standard equipment.

In this new Fiat 500 Collezione, the small city car is once again closely tied to the world of fashion, as it has done on other occasions with Gucci or Diesel. In this special edition it does so in collaboration with L’Uomo Vogue, the most important internationally recognised men’s fashion magazine. Furthermore, while the previous 500 Collezione was launched to coincide with spring, this new special edition arrives in autumn, a nod to the two collections the most prestigious fashion houses present each year.

The new Fiat 500 Collezione can be chosen in “saloon” version with panoramic sunroof or as a convertible, in which case the soft top is grey. Externally, the most exclusive colour combination is the Burgundy Opera and Carrara Grey combination, colours intended to evoke autumn, although if these do not appeal you may choose a single colour from the three available: Burgundy Opera, Carrara Grey and Vesuvio Black. The bodywork is complemented by chrome lines and a copper waistline strip, adding an elegant touch with the “Collezione” emblem in italics.

Moving to the interior, the same colour scheme has been carried through with a distinctive design. The seats now feature black and burgundy stripes with black vinyl, while the 500 logo has been embroidered on the backrest. A copper-coloured line has also been applied to the dashboard, the floor mats bear the Collezione emblem and a burgundy embroidery, and the key casing is also changed for the occasion, being copper-coloured and engraved with the Collezione emblem.

As standard added equipment, the new Fiat 500 Collezione includes parking sensors as well as rain and light sensors, although of course you can expand it with a wide range of gadgets and accessories. Mechanically, it is worth highlighting that the new Fiat 500 Collezione will already incorporate the new E6D petrol engine, a 1,200 cc engine delivering 69 CV of power, which can be paired with the Dualogic automated gearbox with paddle shifters.

We will not have to wait long to see the new Fiat 500 Collezione in the brand’s dealerships in Spain, starting from 22 October, with a starting price set at 13,500 euros.
