Finally unveiled! Ladies and gentlemen, the all-new BMW X7

The BMW X7 finally makes its public debut, and it could not be more imposing, thanks to its enormous dimensions and a design that clearly conveys strength

¡Por fin se desvela! Con todos ustedes el nuevo BMW X7

The SUV segment keeps adding new members, and now, specifically the premium ones, is once again shaken by one of the big players: the all-new BMW X7. A few days ago we dove into this segment with the spectacular Audi Q8, which, by the way, left us with a very good impression, and now BMW finally reveals its answer with the X7, which becomes the largest model in the X range.

But the all-new BMW X7 will not only be the largest in the X range, it will also be so in every sense: with its exterior dimensions, whose lines give a strong sense of poise and authority, and its interior, where its great capacity stands out with a third row of seats, and in the use of the best technology, both for its latest-generation engines and for the systems fitted throughout.
Imposing exterior with defined lines

Starting with the exterior, the BMW X7

is a large SUV, and its dimensions bear this out: 5,151 mm long, 2,000 mm wide, 1,805 mm high, and a wheelbase set at 3,105 mm. These dimensions go perfectly with the carefully designed lines, the clean surfaces and various chrome touches, all coming together to form a modern SUV with an aggressive and imposing look.

Its front is imposing, with vertical lines and dominated by the huge front grille with the characteristic “kidney” shape of the German brand, and the LED lights fitted as standard on both sides in the highest position possible, although you can optionally fit ¡Por fin se desvela! Con todos ustedes el nuevo BMW X7LaserlightBMW laser lights, with a distinctive X-shaped light signature. In the lower part of the front, on both sides, are the air intakes, whose design will vary depending on the trim level you choose.

Looking at the profile, what will catch your eye most is the long roofline and the large glass area, which translates into more light and visibility inside. The wheel arches are painted in the body colour and have a rounded design, leading to the huge wheels with alloy rims that can be from 20 to 22 inches. At the rear, horizontal lines take centre stage, in keeping with the design of the LED headlights, and taking as a design reference the horizontal chrome bar that until now was exclusive to the BMW 7 Series.

You can enhance all of this design to your taste with the Design Pure Excellence design package and the M sport package, which adds a little more attitude to its exterior look.
Spacious, bright interior with generous equipment

Spaciousness, comfort and elegance will be the main features of the interior, offered to all occupants across its three rows of seats. The lines are smooth but, just like the exterior, the aim has also been to convey that sense of authority with generous volumes, complemented by high-quality materials such as leather, hide and wood, which will naturally vary in colour and quantity depending on the base trim chosen.

As is customary, the dashboard is dominated by two large screens forming part of the BMW Live Cockpit Professional¡Por fin se desvela! Con todos ustedes el nuevo BMW X7 system fitted as standard, each 12.3 inches, which can be operated from the iDrive Controller control panel integrated into the centre console, where other buttons are also grouped, such as the Start/Stop button, the Driving Experience Control controls, the electric parking brake and the brand-new selector lever.

But beyond its design, as I mentioned earlier, the BMW X7 is characterised by its great capacity: as standard it can carry up to 7 people thanks to its third row of seats, where its two occupants will not feel boxed in, thanks to various comforts such as armrests, cup holders and the extension of the standard glass roof to their position, so they also enjoy good views. Occupants of the second row, with a conventional three-seat layout that can optionally be two individual seats, will have the same positional adjustments as the driver and front passenger.

With all seats in use, the BMW X7 offers boot capacity of 326 litres¡Por fin se desvela! Con todos ustedes el nuevo BMW X7, which can be increased up to 2,000 litres by folding down the second and third row seats. Furthermore, loading and unloading the boot will not be a hard task despite its height: first, there is electric operation to open its two-section tailgate, and you can also lower its height for easier access using a button fitted in the boot and the standard air suspension.

In terms of equipment, the BMW X7 will have numerous gadgets that will delight all occupants, such as the LED lights fitted in the Panorama Sky Lounge glass roof, capable of generating more than 15,000 patterns when night falls; the Ambient Air package, which ionises the air and perfumes the interior with up to eight fragrances; an audio system with eight speakers as standard, which can be increased to 16 with the Harman Kardon sound system, or up to 20 speakers and a 1,500-watt amplifier with the Bowers & Wilkins Diamond Surround Sound System. All of this can be complemented further with a wide list of available options.
Powerful diesel and petrol engines
At launch, the all-new BMW X7 will offer three engine options: two diesels and one petrol, all linked to the upgraded

eight-speed Steptronic gearbox

and xDrive all-wheel drive with electronic differential lock, a differential that on the most powerful diesel version comes as standard with the xOff-Road package. All engines comply with the Euro 6d-TEMP standard: petrol engines include a particulate filter and, for the diesel engines, catalytic converters, a particulate filter and an additional AdBlue tank.

Now, getting into the engines: the petrol option is the X7 xDrive40i¡Por fin se desvela! Con todos ustedes el nuevo BMW X7, with a 3,000 cc six-cylinder inline engine producing 340 CV and 450 Nm of torque. The figures quoted are acceleration to 100 km/h in 6.1 seconds, reaching a top speed of 245 km/h. Its combined consumption is around 8.7–9 l/100 km, while CO2 emissions are 205–198 g/km.

The more “relaxed” diesel option comes from the X7 xDrive30d, also a six-cylinder inline with 3,000 cc, but with 265 CV and 620 Nm of torque. Its acceleration to 100 km/h takes 7 seconds, while its top speed is set at 227 km/h. Its consumption is more moderate, around 6.8–6.5 l/100 km, with CO2 emissions of between 178 and 171 g/km.

Finally, the spicier variant on the diesel side, and for now the most powerful option, is the X7 M50d¡Por fin se desvela! Con todos ustedes el nuevo BMW X7, an engine similar to the previous one but in this case producing 400 CV and 760 Nm of torque. Its acceleration to 100 km/h takes just 5.4 seconds, reaching a top speed of 250 km/h. Its combined consumption is around 7.4–7.0 l/100 km, while CO2 emissions are between 193 and 185 g/km.

In addition, as a good SUV, the BMW X7 will have a chassis that matches its concept and engines, tuned to provide great comfort and agility as well as good off-road capability. All of this is complemented by various systems that adjust the vehicle to our needs, such as the Dynamic Stability Control system, which adapts the suspension to the load carried, or the air suspension that lets us raise the body in two stages by up to 40 mm.
Assistance systems at the service of the occupants
As you can imagine, a car in this category will incorporate a wide range of systems that help both with driving and with our own safety, all of the latest generation. These include the

Driving Assistant Professional

, an optional package that brings together systems such as lane change assist, traffic jam assistant, lane keeping assistant, cross-traffic alert and rear collision warning, among others.

There are also systems that make life easier, especially in a vehicle of this size, such as the Park Distance Control and Parking Assistant¡Por fin se desvela! Con todos ustedes el nuevo BMW X7 parking systems, both included as standard, which in turn include several systems that complement each other; or the Intelligent Personal Assistant, which will be our perfect co-pilot: just ask it for what we want.

As for the price of the all-new BMW X7 in our country, we will have to wait a little longer, since its launch is not planned until next March 2019.
