The Skoda Kodiaq GT, now for real, and only for China
Skoda has released the first images so we can see the Skoda Kodiaq GT, a coupé-style version of its well-known SUV that will only be sold in China

Skoda has been wanting us to see the new Kodiaq GT for a while, although it was reluctant to show anything beyond a few small teasers of the model. Now, at last, it has made up its mind and shows us the Coupé version of its SUV. The Skoda Kodiaq GT aims to add a bit more sportiness to a car that has already proven it can be the SUV many of us were expecting, and after the seven-seat version and the reinterpretation of the SEAT Arona in the form of the Skoda Karoq, this variant arrives which, for now, only Chinese buyers will be able to enjoy.
For the moment, the Kodiaq GT will be the fourth SUV the brand has on the Chinese market, after the Kamiq, Karoq and Kodiaq, and it has become the flagship of the brand. It’s no wonder they have thought of China for the launch of this version of the SUV, since this Asian market is the most important one for the Czechs.

Aesthetically, the front end doesn’t differ much from the Kodiaq we see on our roads, although the front has somewhat larger air intakes than the base model. The differences start from the B-pillar, which is the point where the roofline drops towards the rear, radically changing the rear end. The tailgate, the light bar at the back and the twin exhaust make the difference and give a different, more dynamic look.

We’re left wanting to see the interior of the Kodiaq GT, since the photos are limited to the exterior. They say from Skoda that the interior features high-quality materials and also cutting-edge technology, including the Virtual Cockpit with Wi-Fi access, Mirror Link, Apple CarPlay and Baidu’s Car, which is exclusive to China.
As for the engine, there are two petrol engines. The first is a 2.0 TSI with 180 CV and front-wheel drive, and another version with 220 CV that sends the power to all four wheels. For now, there is no diesel engine on the horizon. If this version reaches other markets they may reconsider, but for now it will stay petrol-only. What do you think of the look of this much-hyped car? Would you like to see it in Europe?
