Fisker gives a glimpse of some lines of its new electric SUV
Fisker has released a new preview of its electric SUV. Now, it has shown its new solar roof, which will be capable of powering vehicle functions.

Fisker gives a glimpse of some lines of its new electric SUV. Henry Fisker, the company’s founder, has shared a new teaser of Fisker’s upcoming electric SUV. Although the image focuses only on the roof of the SUV, it reveals one of the vehicle’s most notable technological features: a solar roof.
The original Fisker Karma came equipped with a solar roof, and the company will do the same with its rival to the Tesla Model Y. It remains to be seen how much energy the solar roof can store and whether it will directly power some of the car’s accessories or, instead, channel the energy directly to the battery. Either way, it will inevitably help increase the vehicle’s range.

Last week, a separate teaser gave us a look at the SUV’s three-quarter design, where turn signals are built into the D-pillars. This teaser, as well as the one focused on the roof, also reveals that the SUV will adopt thin, horizontal rear lights, along with a bold and aggressive rear bumper.
The previous images presented in teaser form have revealed the front grille in its entirety. It includes small LED headlights, a large synthetic grille, and curved LED daytime running lights. The vehicle has also been fitted with eye-catching wheels.
Fisker’s electric SUV, closer than ever
Fisker’s first electric SUV will be powered by a pair of electric motors and an 80 kWh battery pack in the base model. The electric SUV will be all-wheel drive and will have an estimated range of approximately 483 kilometers. Pricing details have not yet been announced, but Fisker has confirmed that the SUV will be fully unveiled next December.
According to Henry Fisker, his new electric SUV is intended to compete with models such as the new Jaguar I-Pace and the Tesla Model Y, so one can expect a model of fairly compact dimensions. Its official presentation will take place in 2021, so there is still a long wait before we can see it on the road. Even so, the brand has already revealed the price of the entry-level version of the model. It will be around 40,000 dollars in the US market.

Another detail that points to the complexity of the solar roof is its opening capability. According to Henrik Fisker, it will offer passengers an “open-air atmosphere at the touch of a button.” It could therefore turn this model into a kind of convertible SUV. Finally, Fisker has stated several times that it will be the most sustainable vehicle in the world. To achieve this, it will be manufactured using a large amount of recycled materials.
We should learn about all these new developments before the end of 2019. According to Fisker’s plans, the official presentation of this all-terrain SUV is expected to take place next December. When that happens, we’ll have to see whether it keeps features such as the concealed door handles and the turn signals on the C-pillar.
