Bonhams is preparing its next car auction: multimillionaires, take a seat
Bonhams will hold a car auction in September featuring cars as exclusive as a Lamborghini Veneno, a Ferrari LaFerrari or a Koenigsegg One.
Bonhams is one of those platforms where, if you’ve won the lottery and want something very special for your garage, you should take a look. It’s true that there are events of this kind for every taste, such as this one that auctioned 81 cars abandoned on a farm in France, among which was a Lamborghini Miura.
However, this car auction is very different, since Bonhams will offer 25 supercars and luxury cars in perfect condition to the highest bidder. The venue could not have been better chosen, since the country chosen has been Switzerland, where it is rumoured that when the sky clouds over, euros fall (banknotes, since coins would damage these beauties). Specifically, the location chosen will be the Bonmont Golf & Country Club, a beautiful 12th-century abbey with wonderful gardens where the spectacular units being auctioned will be displayed.
Among the lots, attendees will find some as exclusive as a spectacular Lamborghini Veneno, a Ferrari LaFerrari or a Koenigsegg One. However, these are only 3 of the 25 units we will find in this car auction. An interesting fact is that the total value of all of them is estimated at 13.5 million euros, so the average price of each car is 540,000 euros.
A most exclusive car auction
Bonhams already has experience auctioning unique cars, such as the Porsche Type 64 auctioned recently. Therefore, one of the units in this auction is one of the nine Lamborghini Veneno that left the brand’s factory in Sant’Agata Bolognese to celebrate the company’s 50th anniversary and that sold for more than 4.5 million euros.
On the other hand, another item in this car auction will be a Ferrari LaFerrari with only 1,000 kilometres on its odometer, so the privileged buyer will be re-breaking it in. The hypercar from the cavallino brand is expected to easily exceed 2 million euros.
A car auction of this calibre has to include a Koenigsegg in its list of lots and, of course, Bonhams’ is no exception. Therefore, among the cars to be auctioned we can find an ultra-exclusive Koenigsegg One for which around 2 million euros will have to be paid to take it home.
A Bugatti Veyron
up for auction
If just seeing the three units mentioned above would already make you reach for a bib, the rest of the auction’s lineup will make you consider tying a bedsheet around your neck. A McLaren P1 (1.34 million euros) or a Aston Martin One-77 (1.25 million euros) will make you drool like a baby who is teething.
Another detail that again demonstrates the calibre of this car auction is that one of the most affordable supercars is a brutal Bugatti Veyron in “Atlantic blue” colour, priced from 624,500 euros. The car is from 2005 and under its bonnet it houses the brutal 16.4-litre W16 capable of producing 1,001 horsepower.
However, Bonhams will not make multimillionaires wait until September, since it has prepared another classic car auction on 30 June 2019, where it will display 40 classic cars and top-level supercars.
