Ford confirms the Fiesta's disappearance in 2023
The Ford Fiesta will be replaced by the electric Ford Puma, which will be built at the Craiova plant starting in 2024.

Ford has published a sentimental video saying “goodbye” to one of its most popular models: the Ford Fiesta. Confirming earlier reports, the carmaker announced that this is the end of the road for the city car, which will be discontinued in June 2023, six years after the current generation debuted and less than two years after its recent facelift. The model will be indirectly replaced by an electric variant of the Puma.
In the video, we see a grandfather who owns a Fiesta reading a bedtime story to his grandson. The book is titled “Fiesta – Small Family Car” and tells the story of the city car, which is described as “a car for the people.” Towards the end, it says the Fiesta’s end has come because “its job is done.”

The Fiesta has been a member of the Ford range since 1976 and is the second-longest-running model behind the Transit. To date, we have seen seven or eight generations of the Fiesta, depending on how the numerous updates throughout its illustrious 47-year career are counted. The city car has sold more than 18 million units worldwide and remains the best-selling model in the UK with nearly 5 million units.
Goodbye to the Ford Fiesta

The last Ford Fiesta will roll off the production line at the Cologne factory at the end of June 2023. Order books will remain open until the remaining production volume is sold out. Ford recently removed the three-door hatchback from the range, meaning that during the final year of its production cycle you will only be able to buy a five-door Fiesta. Fortunately, the Ford Fiesta ST will carry on for one more year as the range’s performance flagship. Following the Fiesta’s departure, the carmaker’s main factory in Germany will be transformed into the Ford Cologne Electrification Centre, switching to electric vehicle production.
The farewell video ends on a positive note, showing an apparently electric Puma behind a garage door with a charger. The Ford Puma EV has already been leaked and confirmed, and will be produced at the Craiova plant in Romania starting in 2024.
