Ford Ranger 2022: first details and photos of the pick-up

The new generation of the Ranger is in the final stretch before its launch. As a preview, we bring you the first image of the pick-up uncovered

Ford Ranger 2022

The Ford Ranger was first presented in 1982. Since then, four generations of this legendary pick-up have gone down in history, and now we are waiting for the fifth generation, which is expected to be unveiled by the end of the year and to reach dealerships in early 2022.

As one of the most successful pick-ups in terms of sales, the new Ranger will reach all markets, so we will be able to enjoy it in our country without any problem.

New features

In the image in which we can see the new generation being spotted while driving along a dirt track, we can make out new lighting units with larger LED technology that bear quite a resemblance to those of the new F-150, a large grille typical of this type of vehicle, and a rugged appearance with fairly large dimensions.

Ready for challenges

This model has been developed on the basis of the T6 platform, exactly the same one found in the new Bronco. Besides being more resistant, it will include a wide range of equipment that will make this Ranger your best ally on any difficult off-road route, such as a connectable 4×4 system, a low-range transfer case, or a rear differential with locking.

Inside, a major evolution is expected given the huge technological leap made by the recent Ford F-150. Therefore, it would be most logical for it to include the large touchscreen in vertical orientation mounted on the centre console, with compatibility for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and a range of driver assistance systems that make life easier for its occupants.

Unconfirmed data

Ford, so far no specific data has been released on which engine types will reach the old continent. Although the most logical option is a four-cylinder diesel engine and even the 3.0-litre V6 that the brand already offers.

As for the cabin configurations, we also have no data, although they may share the same options as the generation we know today: the Chassis Cab (for two people and no rear body), the Single Cab (for two people with a rear body) and the Super Cab (with space for four people and a rear body).
