Gordon Murray makes progress with the iStream, T.25 and T.27

A long time has passed since we last had news of the T.25 and T.27 (photo), two mini cars, the latter with electric propulsion, as well as the T-32 sports car. Since we learned that the former designer of the McLaren F1 team (and of the famous McLaren F1) was not interested in selling or manufacturing these urban models on his own, but in selling the projects to the highest bidder, we imagined a start with ups and downs.

However, the time has come for Murray to comment on the latest developments in his creations. Although almost three years have passed since both micro cars appeared, it is only now that Murray has managed to sell two of them to a customer. But we are not talking about a private individual, like you and me, but about a company that would be willing to manufacture and market them starting in 2016.

Murray’s idea also involves the manufacturing process iStream, patented by Gordon Murray. With this process, vehicle production has been notably improved, since an iStream factory could build 100,000 vehicles a year with 85% less capital than in a conventional plant. The factories can be much smaller and use only 60% of the energy a large factory would use. In addition, Murray’s cars use bodywork made of recycled plastic, and the production process itself differs from the conventional one.

Murray has commented on his blog that he has already sold six new vehicle projects, four using the iStream method and two under the conventional method. The names of those interested in these projects have not been revealed, nor who will mass-produce the T.25 and T.27, but the South African designer himself has promised to reveal more models and more data very soon.
