The Spyker D8 Peking to Paris would go on sale from 2014, thanks to the “collaboration” of the Chinese company Youngman Lotus, which has contributed the 25 million euros needed to make Spyker’s extravagant SUV a reality. The manufacturing plans had already been advanced, but there is one specific date that is on Victor Muller’s mind: 2014.

According to Muller, the engineering process for the new SUV has already been completed. The next phase is to prepare the Spyker factory for the start of production. The goal of the D8 Peking to Paris is to market it in countries such as Russia or China, whose wealthy potential customers long to own a luxurious SUV with all-wheel drive and plenty of power, with V8 or V12 engines.

For manufacturing, the same factory where Spyker currently builds its only existing model, the C8 Aileron, had been considered. However, later analyses showed that this plant does not have sufficient capacity, so they will entrust the task of assembling the SUV to an external manufacturer. One option would be to hand it over to Lotus Engineering, with whom Spyker has a technology agreement, but Muller acknowledged that it could also be built in Germany.

Spyker believes it could sell 1,000 units a year of the D8 Peking to Paris, but first it must complete the launch of the B6 Venator, its most recent concept, based on an in-house version of what was once the beautiful Artega GT.
