Group BMW: market leader in registrations in the electrified vehicle segment
The report published by Group BMW showed that German manufacturers were among the most prominent in the electrification sector in November 2018.
The Group BMW has maintained its good progress in the segment of electrified vehicles during 2018. This confirms the good figures obtained in 2017: 100,000 electric and hybrid cars sold over that period. This achievement gave the company leadership in this segment. According to the report by the German brand , during last November, it was the leader in new registrations in Europe and Germany. Meanwhile, at global level, it was the third brand behind the Chinese manufacturer BYD and the American ones Tesla.
Group BMW: leaders in Europe
The future of the automotive sector lies in the electrification of combustion-engine models. However, some manufacturers have developed models of this kind in recent years, anticipating the coming times. In this way, many brands have already scheduled their own energy transition with fully or partially electrified ranges.

BMW became the leader of this sector within the European continent. This translated into 17% of registrations during November, completing the podium with Volkswagen (13%) and Nissan (11%). Although exact figures are not known, this has been a great boost for the German brand.
On the other hand, these figures rebounded if we look at its country of origin, Germany. According to this report, registrations reached 19%, placing the company at the top of the list. However, Volkswagen, the main pursuer in this segment according to the dossier provided, reached 17%. The third place went to Smart with 10% of registrations in November.

However, the global figures relegated BMW to third place with 8% in the penultimate month of the year. In this case, the leading brands were BYD (China) and Tesla, each achieving 11% of registrations.
Group BMW registers more electrified cars than combustion ones
Another particularly notable data point was the higher number of registrations of electrified vehicles compared with combustion ones. According to this document, worldwide, registrations of this type of car tripled compared with “traditional” ones.

These figures were replicated in the United States (8.4% versus 1.8%), Europe (19.7% versus 5.7%), Germany (21.5% versus 7.8%) and Norway (14.3% versus 3.6%). In addition, the highest number of registrations was found in the United Kingdom, which reached 31.9% versus 8.1% of combustion vehicles.
