Honda introduces the Xcelerator: an innovative system that will make life easier for its mechanics
Honda will present at CES 2020 what it has named Xcelerator, a set of solutions that will make vehicle inspections easier and more thorough

Brands are fitting their new vehicles with many technologies designed to make our day-to-day lives easier, but what about everything that goes on behind the scenes? The car manufacturing process must also keep pace in order to deliver the tangible innovations we enjoy today. Honda, which wants to equip its range of vehicles with the best solutions available, has also decided to allow its workers to use various systems that make their job easier and make it even more meticulous.
The Xcelerator is the set of innovations the Japanese house offers its mechanics, who are tasked with repairing and inspecting every vehicle that passes through their hands. This has been made possible thanks to the collaboration of several startups that have taken part in developing these far-reaching technologies.
As with other firms, Honda shows a significant concern for the well-being of its workers, which is why it has provided an exoskeleton for the mechanics to use. We must bear in mind the number of movements these workers have to make when inspecting a vehicle, which can lead to muscular problems that seriously harm their health.

Thanks to it, mechanics can inspect cars while seated or exert less effort when reaching and stretching. But that is not all. The human eye is not a scanner and can overlook many faults in vehicles that cannot be perceived with the naked eye. To solve this problem, the Japanese company has developed a 360º inspection system.
This new device aims to go much further by alerting mechanics to problems in the vehicle’s structure, its chassis and even its tyres. It will also analyse other internal faults that are not easily perceived, with the aim of offering a rigorous inspection that will not let any defect go unnoticed.

It will be at next year’s CES that Honda showcases all these innovations and gives us more details about them. Not surprisingly, this new path the Japanese house has set out on will allow both its workers and its customers to enjoy a more precise, professional and thorough service, features that will help Honda steal positions from its main rivals.
