Hyundai Genesis Sedan 2015: Demonstration video of its assisted driving technology

The technology applied to driving appears to be making considerable progress. After several years in which advances arrived little by little, the coming years seem set to bring a considerable revolution that will seek to change everything we know so far. The video you are about to watch shows how far the technology applied to production cars has come and what they are already capable of doing.
The image of a car driving without a driver is becoming more and more common, though not on public roads, of course. These are tests, prototypes and units created specifically to show where automotive technologies are heading, but they are being applied more and more often to production models on a reduced scale, and Hyundai wanted to demonstrate what its Genesis Sedan 2015 is capable of doing.
In the video we see a convoy of this model setting off and, little by little, the drivers of the cars jump onto a truck equipped with a mattress. The intention is for just one driver to remain controlling the convoy while the rest of the cars drive with no one at the wheel.
The intelligent cruise control system fitted to the Hyundai Sedan 2015 follows the vehicle ahead, automatically correcting steering and maintaining an appropriate safety distance to avoid accidents. The driver leading the way, the only one left in the convoy, covers his eyes so that the car is the one doing the driving, and at a given moment the truck brakes.
The system activates the emergency brake and avoids a rear-end collision, while the rest of the cars detect the first car’s action and do the same. The result of the test shows that these systems, although still at a very limited stage, can represent advances in safety and comfort behind the wheel of the cars that fit them.
That said, for the moment, they are found in the higher-end models, although some of these systems, even more limited, are beginning to appear in simpler and more affordable models. Anything to raise the level of safety and avoid accidents as far as possible.
Besides the test video, you can watch the “making of“, a piece that explains how the test was carried out and how it was filmed. Surprised? Well, everything points to us seeing more videos like this in the not-too-distant future.
