The Hyundai i20 N Sport is the first vehicle to come from the N division of the South Korean brand. Its renewed styling gives the whole car a sportier look, while a 115 CV petrol engine sends power to the front wheels through a 6-speed manual gearbox.

Yesterday we learned that Hyundai would unveil its N division at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show, an important event for the European automotive industry, which opens its doors on 15 September. This new division will be responsible for producing high-performance vehicles aimed at both track and road use, and they will be the product of the experience the Korean brand has gained in competition, especially in the FIA World Rally Championship, where it competes with the Hyundai i20 WRC.

The first vehicle to leave the N division is the Hyundai i20 N Sport, a spicier version of the segment B city car. Visually, it features bodywork changes thanks to a sport kit comprising a front splitter, side skirts and a redesigned rear valance that incorporates a small diffuser and a circular stainless steel exhaust outlet. On the roof, a spoiler completes the look, along with newly designed 17-inch alloy wheels and various N badges on the tailgate and front wings.

Under the bonnet, the Hyundai i20 N Sport has a 1.4-litre four-cylinder petrol engine that produces 115 CV and 160 Nm of torque thanks to multi-point fuel injection. Paired with this retuned engine is a six-speed manual gearbox that sends power to the front axle.

As for the suspension, the i20 N Sport features a new complete kit that lowers the body height, improving its centre of gravity, stability and grip. In terms of safety, all four wheels are fitted with anti-lock brakes (ABS) as well as electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD). A complete set of ventilated disc brakes is available for the front axle, while the rear has solid discs.
