Infiniti Lotus Convertibles Sports Cars Industry
Infiniti wants to take on the BMW Z4, but with Lotus on its side

Infiniti is not content with simply being the luxury brand of Nissan and, these days, having a representative sporty model; it is worth just as much as having a hybrid or an electric car in the range. The model Infiniti has to beat this time will be the BMW Z4, and the brand has come up with nothing less than an idea to bring Lotus onto its side.
The new sports car would be presented at the Geneva Motor Show next year. A two-seat convertible with a traditional layout, with the engine at the front and rear-wheel drive. Lotus will be responsible for preparing the chassis so that the car’s dynamics are first-rate, thanks to the English manufacturer’s experience in these matters.
The Z4 killer will not be a hybrid, an electric car, or anything of the kind. In that segment, Infiniti is preparing other models that will also arrive in Geneva (a Nissan Leaf under the Infiniti brand and two hybrid models, one of which will be presented in September).
But let’s return to Infiniti’s convertible, since the premise is that it will sit below the brand’s G coupés and is planned to have a fairly aggressive look. The model would help improve the brand’s image in Europe, which has slipped a little lately. And judging by the sketch of what the two-seater would be, we can say we are eager to start learning more about it, probably towards the end of this year.
