Jeep Dune: the most fun urban prototype from the North American manufacturer

At the moment it is not clear whether it will ever reach the streets of European cities, but there is no doubt that we would really like it to happen.

Meet the Dune, an electric urban vehicle in the L6E category, which means people over 16 can drive it. It is the creation of the design studio Klissarov Design, and more specifically of Emmanuel Klissarov, a renowned French designer who has previously collaborated with other manufacturers such as General Motors, Mercedes-Benz, Renault and Citroën, among others.

As you may have imagined, the Jeep Dune is based on the same platform used by the Citroën Ami, which is why they look somewhat alike. This should not surprise us since both Jeep and Citroën belong to Stellantis.

Last year Citroën launched the My Ami Buggy, an all-road convertible version of the Ami we already knew, with a similar but more robust design. Now the time has come to reinterpret this electric city car by adapting it to the design language of the North American manufacturer.

Close cousin of Citroën’s My Ami Buggy

Although the technical specifications of the Jeep Dune have not been revealed yet, and we only know its exterior appearance, they should not vary much from those of Citroën’s My Ami Buggy. Powered by an electric motor with just 6 kW of power, paired with a 5.4 kWh battery pack, the My Ami Buggy is capable of covering about 74 km on a single charge. That range may seem limited, but it is more than enough for the purpose of this vehicle, which is none other than urban travel. Though with plenty of style.

With perforated fabric doors, hand-made customization, a built-in cool box, and even a DJ booth, the Jeep Dune is destined to become not only an urban model but the “King of the Party”. We can say, therefore, that it is a more party-oriented version of Citroën’s electric city car.

The price this prototype might have if it were eventually put into series production is also unknown, but once again we can look at the price of the My Ami Buggy. Buying a conventional Ami is possible in Spain from 7,990 euros, while the Buggy version was sold in Europe for just over 12,000 euros.

Klissarov points out that the Dune could be a great addition to §0›’s European line of electrified models, alongside the Avenger, the Jeep Renegade 4xe, the Compass 4xe and the Wrangler 4xe.

If you have ever wondered what a fusion between a 4×4 from the North American manufacturer and a fully urban model would look like, the Jeep Dune could be the answer.
