Leaked! The Honda Civic Type R is expected to cost around 30,000 euros... in the US

The Honda is set to launch the long-awaited Civic Type R in the US, and thanks to the CivicX forum (specialized in the Japanese compact) we have learned the price it will have in that country: 33,900 dollars (about 30,000 euros at current exchange rates).

The information was leaked in an image showing the car’s equipment on a sticker placed on the window of a production unit. According to that label, the Honda Civic Type R Touring will cost 10,000 dollars (about 9,000 euros) more than the Civic Si (the second most sporty version in the range), but will be significantly cheaper than the Ford Focus RS (41,260 euros) or the Volkswagen Golf R (41,430 euros), its two most direct rivals.

It is true that both cars offer all-wheel drive – an option that inevitably raises the final price of the vehicle – but in any case the Civic Type R is the fastest car in its category around the Nürburgring circuit; just over a month ago it set the best time – 7 minutes 43.80 seconds – among front-wheel-drive vehicles on the German track.

As we can see in the image, the Honda Civic Type R comes very well equipped as standard. The base price of the Japanese sporty compact includes the following items: leather steering wheel, reinforced sports seats, infotainment system with a seven-inch screen, aluminum pedals, aluminum gear lever and a 12-speaker audio system with 540 watts of power.

It should be remembered that the Honda Civic Type R has a 2-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 306 CV of power and 400 Nm of torque. This engine is paired with a six-speed manual gearbox. The front axle also features a limited-slip differential that improves the Japanese model’s cornering traction.

The Honda Civic Type R will go on sale soon and we assume that prices in the US will not be very different from those in the European market.
