More personalisation for the city dweller: Citroën C1

citroen-c1The Citroën C1 is the A-segment model from the French brand with the double chevron. It shares the same platform as its close relative the Toyota 108Peugeot and the Japanese Toyota Aygo. These partnerships, which brands make for certain models, allow them to recoup the investment sooner; the same was done recently by Fiat and Mazda with the Fiat 124 Spider and the Mazda MX-5, for example.

The three models that use this platform stand out for their wide customisation possibilities, which give them a friendlier and more “exclusive” image, and for offering versions we could call “semi-convertibles”. A good part of the roof is canvas and folds away at the rear of the roof. Rather than a convertible, it is a large sunroof that opens, made of canvas instead of glass. In the Citroën C1 this version is called Airscape.

The French brand has now introduced more equipment in the Feel Edition trim level, available both in the closed-body five-door version and in the Airscape.

It now includes the Mirror Screen system, which turns the 7-inch multimedia screen into something like a smartphone home screen when we connect our phone, displaying the apps installed on our device. This same screen also controls the car’s multimedia system. Bluetooth connectivity and a USB port are also included.

In addition to the above, there are also 15-inch alloy wheels, electrically adjustable and heated wing mirrors, and LED daytime running lights.

The Citroën C1 also debuts the new colour shown in the header image, Jelly Berry Matt, which is available depending on the chosen trim. For the Feel Edition, the options are Lipizan White and Caldera Black (closed body only).

This little city car is offered with the 68 hp VTi engine with the ETG automated gearbox and the 82 hp PureTech manual, although the less powerful engine is not available with the “convertible” body.

The starting price for the Citroën C1 Feel Edition five-door with the 82 hp PureTech engine is €8,690, although that already factors in discounts, financing and the PIVE scrappage plan.
