Maserati takes action: the Trident brand puts its electric motor to the test
Maserati confirms with this video that we will soon witness its first 100% electric vehicle, a new sports car set to arrive in 2021.

Not long ago, Maserati broke our hearts when it announced that production of the iconic and already veteran GranTurismo was coming to an end. Not surprisingly, it took only a few days for the Trident brand to announce that its successor was already under development, and today we have news from it thanks to an interesting video. Maserati has just revealed that it is testing its new electric motor, a powertrain that will bring to life its next sports car, due to arrive in 2021.
For now, the Italian house has been very cautious with the information revealed, so we only know a few details about this new era that is approaching the company. We should not forget that, following the merger of FCA with the PSA Group, this type of powertrain will become much more common among all the members that make up the Italian company, so the idea of a 100% electric Maserati is not far-fetched.
Nevertheless, the company wanted to make it clear that this engine has been developed entirely in-house, so we can rule out any French influence. Getting to the heart of the matter, we are presented with a brief but intense teaser that seeks to be subtle and breathtakingly mysterious, sensations it evokes through the very simple way it conveys its information.

For now, a front end featuring the already characteristic grille dominated by the Trident is one of the few details we can make out. Additionally, we should also highlight the Roman numeral MMXXI, which corresponds to 2021, a clear nod to the year in which this new member of the Italian brand will be unveiled in grand style.
However, the most striking thing about this video is the sound that the electric powertrain will produce, a sound that, while not as chilling as the thunderous roar of the V8, is catchy. In this way, Maserati aims to ensure that the sportiness will remain intact in this new creation even though it will not be a combustion engine that brings it to life.

At the same time, the slogan used in the video, “the music is changing,” can be interpreted as meaning that this new model will not be the only one in the range to adopt electric powertrains. With this premise, we could soon witness the arrival of an electric version of the Levante or the Ghibli, two of its most successful models.
