On 12 September we saw Daniel Ricciardo back at the top of the podium at Monza. It has taken more than three years for the Australian to win a Formula 1 race again, and he celebrated with his fun “shoey”, a celebration his teammate Lando Norris also joined after finishing second in the race. All in all, a perfect weekend for McLaren.

McLaren wanted to celebrate Ricciardo’s return to first place in a race in style, and with the stamp of the MSO division of McLaren, the Woking manufacturer will honour its driver with a special edition called 720S Daniel Ricciardo Edition. But be warned: if you are a big fan of the Australian driver and can afford it, getting one of these units may not be so easy, because production will be limited to just 3 units, all destined for Australia.

What makes this McLaren 720S Daniel Ricciardo Edition so special is the decoration used both outside and inside. The bodywork features the main colours that adorn the MCL35M in Formula 1, so the main colour covering its exterior is Papaya Spark Orange, combined with details in Burton Blue on the bonnet inserts, the air intakes on the engine cover, the mirror housings, the rear diffuser and the brake calipers. The final details are the Australian flag and the number 3 that Ricciardo carries on the front area of the doors.

Inside, the cabin is dominated by black Alcantara with carbon fibre inserts, a theme that breathes sportiness and is contrasted by orange details that link it to the exterior. This colour is applied to elements such as the seats, the door panels, the steering wheel, the dashboard and the stitching. Finally, the door sills include Daniel Ricciardo’s signature, certifying which limited edition you are looking at.

There is no novelty in its engine, which consists of the 4,000 cc V8 twin-turbo that delivers 720 CV together with 770 Nm of torque, figures that allow it to accelerate to 100 km/h in under three seconds and reach a top speed of 341 km/h.
