Mercedes-AMG announces a new high-performance version of the electric CLA

With the CLA 45 4MATIC+, Mercedes-AMG consolidates its presence in the high-performance electric segment, combining cutting-edge technology, thrilling performance and competitive range.

Mercedes-AMG has just expanded its range of high-performance electric models with a new version of the electric CLA. This is the CLA 45 4MATIC+, the first in the range to feature three axial flux motors, an advanced technology the brand had already introduced in the GT 4-Door Coupé.

This new model represents a major step forward in performance and is offered in two body styles: Saloon and Shooting Brake.

The powertrain configuration is particularly innovative. Two motors are located on the rear axle and one more on the front, delivering a combined maximum output of 500 kW, with torque reaching 1,759 Nm. This outstanding performance allows the new CLA 45 4MATIC+ to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.71 seconds

. While its standard top speed is limited to 250 km/h, it can reach 270 km/h with the optional AMG Dynamic Plus package.

More noteworthy details you shouldn’t overlook

The energy to power this beast comes from a 94 kWh battery pack with an 800-volt architecture. When recharging, this setup supports a peak output of 330 kW on DC and 22 kW on AC. Mercedes-AMG highlights the efficiency of the system: combined consumption ranges between 16.5 and 19.6 kWh/100 km, which translates into a WLTP range of over 670 km in the saloon version and more than 640 km in the Shooting Brake.

Beyond its impressive powertrain, the CLA 45 4MATIC+ features adaptive suspension and active aerodynamic elements. The latter generate greater downforce at high speed via a rear spoiler or roof-edge spoiler, depending on the body style. The AMG Performance 4MATIC+ variable all-wheel-drive system ensures excellent grip and agility in all conditions.

This launch not only enriches the performance offering of the German manufacturer’s electric lineup, but also responds to the brand’s current strategy. After a decline in sales of the EQ family vehicles in 2025, the brand recorded a notable 11 percent growth in global deliveries of its electric models during the first quarter of 2026§h19§, reaching 50,400 units. The CLA, as part of the manufacturer’s new generation of electric models, has been key to this rebound, to the point that the Rastatt plant in Germany has introduced three-shift production to meet demand.
