Mercedes-Benz C-Class Estate: practical and dynamic

Clase C Estate 4

The estate version of the new generation of the Mercedes-Benz C-Class has officially been revealed after various leaks over the last few days.

The first units of this new estate are expected to reach dealerships throughout September of this same year.

Design has been one of the cornerstones in creating this second body style for the C-Class. Without a doubt, we are looking at one of the most attractive estates in its segment, with very dynamic and sporty lines. The front is virtually identical to that of the saloon, although the rear naturally features numerous changes.

The roofline does not drop as steeply, although it is true that the C-Class Estate was given a certain coupé-like character. The rear lights lose their teardrop shape, becoming longer and more horizontal, similar to those of the E-Class.

The C-Class Estate has an overall length of 4702 mm, 96 mm more than its predecessor, while the wheelbase grows by 80 mm to 2840 mm, resulting in more settled handling and greater interior space.

Speaking of the interior, the dashboard and centre console are the same as those found in the saloon. The second row of seats now enjoys more space for both legs and head, thanks to a roof that maintains its height. The boot gains 5 litres to reach 490, reaching up to 1510 litres with the rear seats folded, which can be done in a 40:20:40 split and, optionally, electrically.

Technically, it retains all the refinements and innovations already presented in the saloon, among which the Airmatic air suspension system stands out, capable of keeping the vehicle’s height stable regardless of load. It was first introduced as a novelty in the segment and remains so to this day.

The range of engines remains unchanged from the saloon version, offering petrol outputs between 156 and 333 CV (C180–C400), while in diesel you can choose from a power range running from 115 CV up to 204 CV (C180 BlueTEC–C250 BlueTEC).

Two hybrid alternatives are also offered that combine a diesel engine with an electric motor. They are the C300 BlueTEC HYBRID (204+27 CV) and C350 BlueTEC HYBRID (211+68 CV).
Depending on the engine chosen, drive will be to the rear wheels or all-wheel (4MATIC).
