Mercedes-Benz GLA 45 AMG: 4.8 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h

The Mercedes-Benz GLA is one of the models on which the brand has worked with the most drive in recent months. It is the raised, rugged variant of the A-Class, the compact model from the star brand.
As is tradition at the German firm, the tuner AMG has gone to work to pull out of its hat the fastest compact SUV on the market. Although we already knew it in the form of a concept, Mercedes has just presented the production version only a few days before the start of the NAIAS.
As a proper AMG, the GLA 45 AMG does not go unnoticed thanks to the multitude of cosmetic add-ons that have been added to its figure. Starting with the front, we find a much more bulging bumper, with very aggressive air intakes that, in addition to their aesthetic function, serve a cooling purpose.

The wheels grow in size, reaching 20 inches in diameter. The sill panels also change, as does the rear, with a new spoiler, bumper and exhaust system, with 4 outlets. Without doubt, the GLA 45 AMG grabs attention.
The interior is identical to that of the A 45 AMG, which means we will sit in bucket seats with a hyper-sporty design, grip a steering wheel upholstered in leather and Alcantara, and can feel soft plastics and trim that can be carbon fibre if we choose the option.

The mechanical side is also shared with the A and CLA 45 AMG. That is, a total power output of 360 CV drawn from a 4-cylinder inline engine with a 2-litre displacement, turbocharged. This remarkable engine is coupled to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox (AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT-7), and sends its power to the road through the brand’s all-wheel-drive system, called 4-MATIC.

The performance is brilliant, as the GLA 45 AMG is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.8 seconds, reaching a top speed of 250 km/h electronically limited. The homologated combined consumption is put at 7.5 litres per 100 kilometres, which at first glance does not seem excessive given the GLA’s performance.
