Mercedes-Benz updates its EQA and EQB and once again improves the range of the compact SUV
Mercedes-Benz updates its compact SUVs, the EQA and EQB, with styling changes, improvements to the MBUX system and more range, which now reaches up to 560 km in the EQA with the larger-capacity battery.

Mercedes-Benz’s compact SUVs are being renewed… once again. And it hasn’t been a year since the EQA, for example, increased the range of its entry-level version and the 250+ version was added to the range. Now, both bodystyles, the EQA and the EQB, receive design changes, as well as efficiency improvements that once again increase range, along with updates to the MBUX infotainment system and the driver assistance systems.
On the outside, the most notable change is the new grille with a “black panel” surface featuring star-imitating inserts. Also new is the LED light bar that connects the daytime running lights and headlights, as well as the rear light clusters, which have a new design on both bodystyles. As for the interior, the design remains the same, but the steering wheel changes, now adding touch controls, and new decorative trim is introduced.
More range: up to 560 km for the EQA
But one of the changes that will delight potential buyers, and perhaps make early EQA owners pull their hair out, is the new range increase, reaching up to 528 km in the EQA 250 with 140 kW (190 CV) and a 66.5 kWh battery, up to 560 km in the EQA 250+ with the same power and a 70.5 kWh battery, and up to 459 km in the EQA 300 4MATIC and 350 4MATIC, with 168 kW (228 CV) and 215 kW (292 CV) of power, respectively.

In the case of the EQB, the ranges are up to 536 km for the 250+, and up to 448 km for the 300 4MATIC and 350 4MATIC. In all cases the improvement comes from greater efficiency, especially thanks to aerodynamic optimisation and the use of tyres with lower rolling resistance. A new range maximisation function is also added which, when necessary, disconnects or limits the operation of the air conditioning or even switches off the screens to save the maximum amount of energy.

Other improvements include the availability for the first time as optional equipment of a towbar with a maximum towing capacity of up to 1,700 kg on the EQB, also including the trailer stabilisation system. On the other hand, the arrival of the Plug&Charge function improves the charging experience, as it allows the process to start automatically as soon as the cable is connected to the vehicle at compatible charging points.

Finally, the update to the MBUX system includes improvements affecting the presentation of charging functions, display modes and the voice assistant Mercedes me, which now has a greater ability to understand natural language phrases and hold a conversation with the driver. The new front and rear cameras improve the operation of some of the assistance systems. All versions now include the 10.25-inch central touchscreen as standard equipment.
