The brand MG (Morris Garage) was for many years one of the best-known brands in Great Britain, but it eventually could not withstand the pressure from other brands and succumbed in the market, disappearing. But it was bought by the Chinese conglomerate SAIC, which committed to bringing it back to Europe, and now the moment has come for it to land again in our markets. And it does so in spectacular fashion, since the first vehicle to arrive from the brand’s new chapter is the MG ZS EV.

This model is an electric SUV designed to reach the European market shortly, and in fact it has already gone through several procedures needed to access the different European countries. Among these procedures, it has achieved the five-star EuroNCAP rating, which certifies it as one of the safest vehicles by European standards. And by the way, it even surpasses the Porsche Taycan.

As for the car itself, it is an SUV that is based on the combustion-engine model already on sale in China. It uses a water-cooled 44.5 kWh battery with a charge capacity from 0 to 80% in just 43 minutes when using a 50 kW fast-charging station. If a 7 kW wallbox is used, charging takes 6.5 hours. As for range, it stands at 263 kilometres on the WLTP cycle, which could translate into about 200 kilometres of real-world driving.

As for the electric motor, this car uses a motor that delivers power to the front axle, producing 110 kW, the equivalent of 150 CV, and a maximum torque of 350 Nm. This allows it to reach 0 to 100 km/h acceleration in 3.1 seconds. In terms of equipment, the MG ZS EV will include features such as the MG Pilot, with adaptive cruise control, traffic assist, blind-spot detection, automatic emergency braking and pedestrian alert system.

It also has a connectivity system compatible with Android and iPhone, as well as keyless entry and satellite navigation. This model was already on sale in the United Kingdom and now the first 200 units are arriving in Norway, which will be the entry point to the European market. In that country it will be delivered for 23,700 euros. In France it will stay at around 25,000 euros, while in the United Kingdom it stays at 27,500 euros.
