More information on the upcoming Audi S8, S7, S6 and RS6

What a jumble of letters and numbers! Don’t worry, I’ll go step by step so you don’t get lost. I’ll start with the Audi S8, the sporty version of the ultra-luxury A8 saloon. Its debut is scheduled for the Frankfurt Motor Show this year (in September). It will feature a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 (the same as the one in the Bentley Continental GT) with power around 500 CV, that is, 50 CV more than the previous S8. The higher power will come hand in hand with greater efficiency (roughly 20% lower consumption), an 8-speed automatic gearbox and Quattro all-wheel drive.
Moving on to the Audi S6 and S7. Both will be publicly presented in early 2012 at the Los Angeles Motor Show. They will also use the 8-cylinder, 4-litre engine, but with 440 CV and 470 CV respectively. What remains a mystery is whether they will have one turbo or two.
Finally, let me tell you about the Audi RS6. Again, the powerplant will be the 4-litre V8, but this time it is known that it will have the help of two turbochargers to get the most out of the mechanicals. It will generate 580 CV, the same as the current model, which will be enough to keep up with its main rival, the new BMW M5 with 560 CV and 680 Nm of torque (remember that the BMW reaches that torque from 1,500 rpm).
We will keep you informed of any new details that emerge on this over the coming months.
