Morgan's Plus range will receive aesthetic and dynamic updates starting in 2023
The Morgan Plus Four and Plus Six models will kick off 2023 with major updates to both their interior and their mechanics

Despite being a small manufacturer, Morgan has a long history behind it and, consequently, one of the models that has remained on the market the longest: the Plus Four, which was first presented in 1950 and even went on to win the 2.0-litre category at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, a milestone that the brand celebrated earlier this year with a special edition.
The Plus range is precisely what we will focus on today, which receives updates that will begin to be applied in January 2023 and affect the Plus Four and the Plus Six equally. Both are practically similar; they differ mainly in that the Plus Four retains a classic look thanks to its narrower bodywork and spoked wheels, while the Plus Six shows off greater sportiness thanks to a more contemporary image.
Aesthetic changes focused on the interior

The exterior styling of the Morgan Plus Four and Plus Six will remain as we have known it until now, so the English company has focused on improving the interior with new, higher-quality materials, new technology and, above all, a greater level of personalisation that will allow each customer to have a model created practically to their taste.
Thus, as we sit in the driver’s seat, we will see that the dashboard can now be ordered in aluminium in matt black, matt silver, or in the same colour chosen for the bodywork, in addition to being able to include the model designation on the passenger side. The dashboard also includes a new, simplified instrument cluster inspired by the world’s most expensive watches, and also incorporates a new LCD screen, larger than the previous one, with updated graphics and backgrounds that change depending on the selected driving mode.

Just below the aluminium dashboard, Morgan’s craftsmen have installed a solid wood trim that can be ordered in different finishes and colours, behind which there is also a glovebox with a leather-upholstered lid and includes USB ports inside. Lower down is the centre console, also in aluminium, which can be ordered in the “Spokes In Flight” and “Kinetic Diamond” themes inspired by the spoked wheels of Morgan cars, while the third theme, “Engineered”, combines aluminium with wood.

From the driver’s seat the driver can also admire the steering wheel with a new polished satin centre section, which, if ordered, will match other elements such as the speaker grille, the door handles, the handbrake and the gear lever surround. Precisely, both driver and passenger may sit on the standard seats or the optional Comfort Plus seats, both of which feature a new headrest design and an optional cup holder that fits into the base of the passenger seat; while more specifically the Comfort Plus now include extra support for the thigh area and a new metal reclining lever.

Overall, both the seats and the door panels, handbrake cover and some areas of the dashboard combine, in their standard specification, black leather with black fabric, although if we don’t like this, we can choose from six other colour and leather combinations, with distinguishing features such as the new door handles made of stainless steel. Another distinguishing element will be the audio system now available on the Morgan Plus Four and Plus Six, signed by Sennheiser and comprising eight speakers, four of which are hidden from view.
Dynamic improvements for greater performance

The other major block of improvements introduced by Morgan for the Plus Four and Plus Six focuses on improving their dynamics to achieve greater performance. To this end, first of all, both models will incorporate a new electronic stability control developed together with Continental, with specific settings for each model and gearbox, and whose level of intervention can be modified depending on the selected driving mode. Alongside the ESC, a new high-performance braking system has also been developed, the latter bearing the AP Racing seal.

Both the Plus Four and the Plus Six can be fitted with an automatic gearbox sourced from BMW, whose engineers have worked with Morgan to adapt it even more specifically to both models, so that, depending on the selected driving mode, together with the pressure applied to the brakes at any given moment and the steering angle, the gearbox is programmed to adapt gear changes, making it much faster and more precise.

Finally, both models now adhere to quality standards by including airbags for both driver and passenger, but there is also the introduction of a hill detection system which selects the gear in the automatic gearbox depending on the angle of the slope and, lastly, new dampers and suspension bushings are installed to offer greater comfort on uneven roads and precision when driving at high speed.
