New Audi A5 and S5 Cabrio: sportiness and elegance under open skies
New Audi A5 Cabrio
Not long ago, both the Audi A5 and the Audi S5 Sportback were renewed, and now it is the turn of the three-door models in their convertible version. In this way the new generation of the A5 family is completed. Sportiness and elegance can be enjoyed with the sky as the roof on those hot summer days.
Automatically operated soft top.At 4,673 metres long, the new Audi A5 Cabrio is 47 millimetres longer than its predecessor. At the front is the distinctive three-dimensional Singleframe grille, which is flatter and wider. The soft top is made of fabric, and fits perfectly, offering good aerodynamic acoustics thanks to efficient insulation. It operates fully automatically, opening completely in 15 seconds and closing in 18 seconds. This operation can be performed while driving at speeds of up to 50 km/h.
The rear window is now flatter to improve aerodynamics and give a more sporty look. The third brake light is integrated into the trim surrounding the cover of the soft-top compartment. The LED rear lights and the optional LED or Matrix LED headlights with dynamic turn indicators at the front and rear give it its characteristic light signature.

Inside, there is more space for the driver and passengers thanks to a longer wheelbase and shoulder room that has grown by 26 millimetres, and rear knee room that has increased by 18 millimetres. High-quality materials are present in every corner of the new A5 Cabrio. As an option, 30-tone adjustable ambient lighting creates a coherent interior atmosphere.
Boot volume with the soft top closed is 380 litres. The rear seat can be folded down in a 50/50 split using controls available in the boot. As standard, the A5 Cabrio’s boot lid opens automatically, using the key fob or a button on the driver’s door. Optionally, Audi also offers a hands-free boot opening system. It features a proximity sensor in the rear bumper that detects a foot movement when it approaches from below, and the boot lid opens automatically. Naturally, the key must be detected in order for the boot to be opened this way.
The suspension has been revised for greater ride comfort. Optionally, adaptive dampers can be specified, controlled by the dynamic drive system Audi drive select, which is standard equipment and allows the driver to choose between a comfortable or a highly dynamic driving experience. Together with the newly developed electromechanically assisted steering, this offers a pleasant driving feel and great precision. A dynamic steering option is also available, which varies the steering ratio depending on speed and steering wheel angle.
