New Fiat Qubo, a vehicle halfway between a van and a city car

The Fiat Qubo is one of those vehicles that is hard to classify. At first glance it looks like a van with the look of an estate, although it can also be used as a commercial vehicle. What the Italian brand has wanted to highlight is its functionality and versatility. At first sight the front end is very reminiscent of the Fiat Fiorino’s, and that is true, because it has adopted it from that model.

Two new body colours are added: Magnetic Bronze and Azul Libertà. The designs of the diamond-cut 15″ polished alloy wheels and 16″ gloss black wheels are also new. The accessibility of the Fiat Qubo should also be highlighted, thanks mainly to the sliding side door and the rear tailgate that gives access to the large-capacity boot. Its cargo volume is 330 litres in normal configuration and up to a maximum of 2,500 litres (up to the roof) with the rear seats removed.

The interior design also comes from the Fiat Fiorino, so it now has a more eye-catching look. The steering wheel has a gloss black trim and can integrate the radio controls. It is also available with leather upholstery, as well as the gear knob and the manual gearbox gaiter. The instrument panel features a new backlit graphic for better visibility. The upholstery has been renewed with new fabrics and tones, and a gloss black central trim adorns the dashboard of the Lounge and Trekking versions.

Among the new features of the Fiat Qubo, the infotainment system with MP3 radio and 5″ colour touchscreen stands out, also available with satellite navigation system and including Bluetooth, audio streaming, USB port, auxiliary connector, 6 speakers and steering wheel controls.

It is available in three trim levels: Easy, Lounge and Trekking. Starting from the Easy trim, the new Qubo comes as standard with all the equipment that cannot be done without for safety and comfort: ABS with EBD, ESC with ASR, HBA, Hill Holder system, front and side airbags. Also included are the keyless remote entry, front electric windows, heated rear window, adjustable steering wheel and body-coloured bumpers, as well as a full-size spare wheel.

The Lounge version adds the new infotainment system with MP3 radio and 5″ colour touchscreen, including Bluetooth, audio streaming, USB port, auxiliary connector and steering wheel controls. Standard equipment also includes fog lights, manual air conditioning, 60/40 split-folding rear seat and heated electric door mirrors in body colour.

The Trekking trim, the top-of-the-range equipment, adds longitudinal roof bars, 15″ diamond-cut polished alloy wheels with specific M+S tyres, front seats with armrests, and a driver’s seat with lumbar and height adjustment. Other details that give it an off-road look are the front skid plate, side mouldings with the Trekking logo and tinted windows. It also features the Traction+ system, a device that makes driving easier in low-grip conditions by transferring drive force to the front axle (up to 50 km/h) to the wheel with more grip.

The engines available for the new Fiat Qubo are the 1.4-litre Fire petrol engine with 77 CV and the two 1.3 MultiJet II turbodiesels of 95 and 80 CV. All of them will come as standard with a five-speed manual gearbox, although the five-speed Dualogic automated manual gearbox can be selected instead.

It is a vehicle straightforward in everyday use, functional in any situation, and featuring practical, intelligent solutions. All of this is highlighted by a dynamic and original style. In addition, its compact size is ideal for driving in urban areas, whether its habitual use is private or professional. It is already available at the brand’s dealerships with prices starting from €9,130.
