The new 3 Series (code F30) will be unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show, which takes place next September. According to Autocar and what can be seen in the images, it will be a stylistic evolution of the current model.

For BMW, the 3 Series is one of the most important models in its range, both for the good reputation it has earned throughout its history and for being one of the economic pillars of the company. These are the reasons why a conservative look is expected.

What is truly revolutionary will remain hidden beneath the bodywork. Efficiency will be of particular importance; in fact, there is speculation that the new generation will be able to offer versions with CO2 emissions below 100 g/km. If they achieve this, it will undoubtedly be something worth praising, and a demonstration to the rest of the manufacturers of what Efficient Dynamics technology can deliver.

A new three-cylinder turbo engine with a displacement of 1.5 litres is also expected to be introduced, in both diesel and petrol versions. Internal sources at BMW have told Autocar that the tests carried out to gauge the reaction of potential customers to these new powertrains have been positive. Both the performance and the sound of the engines have pleased their testers.
