New details appear to be emerging about the two new efficient models from Porsche, an electric variant and a hydrogen one. Both models would be based on a modified version of the MSB platform. The well-known platform of the Volkswagen group (MQB for transverse engines and MLB for longitudinal ones) would be called eMSB, reflecting its orientation towards efficient models.

This modified architecture features a series of changes to accommodate both electric and hydrogen propulsion systems. The platform will also be stiffer and will provide greater protection for the fuel tanks and battery packs, as well as for both electric motors mounted on the rear axle.

According to the information published by Autocar, the electric version would be called 718 and could produce at least 420 CV, with an electric-only range of 426 kilometres. The electric model would go into production at the end of 2017 or the beginning of 2018, and its styling would be similar to that of the Pajun, the Panamera Junior. However, a number of design adjustments are expected, such as a new front end and a revised instrument cluster.

For its part, the hydrogen version could be named Porsche 818 and could be launched shortly after the electric model. Although all of this is speculation, both models are expected to be fitted with two rear electric motors combined with a torque-vectoring system.
