New Seat Alhambra, small changes for the great MPV

The Alhambra is the largest model that Seat currently offers in its range of passenger cars. As we already know, it is a model developed in conjunction with VW, its “twin brother” being the VW Sharan.
The Sharan introduced some changes just a couple of months ago, coinciding with the Geneva Motor Show, and now it is the turn of the MPV with a Spanish accent.
On the outside, the 2015 Alhambra differs from previous editions thanks to slight details, such as the introduction of new designs for the alloy wheels. The rear now features more modern light clusters, with a renewed interior design more similar to that of the León, its flagship model.

Inside, the changes are not especially striking either, though they are enough to improve the image of the MPV. The multimedia system has been renewed, now based on the “Discover Media” that VW fits in its vehicles, and which Seat has kindly renamed “SEAT Easy Connect”. The steering wheel also features a new design, while the instrument cluster is updated with a new colour screen between the two dials.
In terms of equipment, the Alhambra now comes fitted as standard across the entire range with the multi-collision brake system, which detects when an accident has occurred and applies the brakes autonomously to prevent secondary collisions. Another novelty is the addition, across the entire range, of the blind spot warning system, which alerts the driver via a light icon in the wing mirrors. The front seats can now also be optionally fitted with massage, further improving comfort, especially on long journeys.

Mechanically, the Alhambra has been completely renewed, improving both performance and consumption, which on average is reduced by 15% compared with the versions sold until now. The diesel range includes two versions of the 2.0 TDI with outputs of 115, 150 and 184 CV, the first two with an average consumption of just 4.9 litres per 100 km.
In petrol, the range consists of TSI engines of 150 CV (1.4 TSI) and 220 CV (2.0 TSI). All engines, except the 1.4 TSI and the 115 CV 2.0 TDI, can be combined with the DSG gearbox, which in this edition now incorporates sailing navigation, decoupling the selected gear when the driver lifts off the accelerator while moving.
