The electric mobility is becoming more and more important, and we all have 2022 in mind as a turning point for this type of vehicle and the solutions they offer. So it is no surprise that more and more brands are putting forward their solutions in this regard. What we have seen now is a new brand, Nextem, which is arriving in our country presenting not luxury electric cars, but electric commercial vehicles for getting around the city.

Nextem presents its proposal for “last-kilometre vehicles“, that is, the vehicles in charge of that final stretch of the delivery service, the one that runs from the logistics centre to the customer’s door. Nextem’s first model is the Nextem Metro, which is available in four configurations, depending on the customer’s needs.

Those who opt for a Nextem Metro will find a small commercial vehicle for local transport or for short distances. In principle, it comes in four original configurations, cab only, pick-up body, tipper body or van, so it is ready to be the electric commercial vehicle that can be used to deliver parcels or carry out small maintenance or transport tasks.

It is a small but sturdy vehicle and it has the advantage that, being electric, there are no restrictions on driving in restricted urban areas such as Madrid Central, for example. It has a load capacity of 5 cubic metres and 500 kg, which is not bad at all.

In terms of mobility, the Nextem Metro has two battery packs, of 13 and 26 kW, the latter offering the maximum range, of 270 kilometres. Let us remember that it is a “last-kilometre vehicle”, so it works perfectly in this respect.

As for equipment, the Nextem Metro comes with ABS, a sound system with USB and Bluetooth, and other add-ons can be added such as air conditioning, a telematics system and a proximity alert to help with parking. The price of this vehicle starts at 16,995 euros, plus VAT, and the company that distributes it, Grupo Invicta Motor, adds a 3-year warranty.

In 2020 the company’s second model will arrive, which will in theory be called Metro II, offering 8 cubic metres of capacity and 1,100 kg of payload, with a 55 kW battery. For now, it remains to be seen how well this model will be accepted and what possibilities it offers in real traffic.
